The specialty focus of today’s pharma industry continues to produce ripples of change in the pharmacy business. First there was the growth of national specialty pharmacy (SP) providers such as Accredo (part of Express Scripts), Diplomat and others; then a seeming land rush for accreditation by hundreds of local, regional and national chains by the URAC organization (to enable these SPs to be part of limited distribution networks chosen by the specialty manufacturer). Now, a relatively new company, KloudScript (Oakbrook Terrace, IL) is hoping to bring in another part: local, mostly independent pharmacies.

CPPA Accredits Diplomat Pharmacy Inc. - Company Provides Exceptional Care for Patients with Unique Medication Needs

 The Center for Pharmacy Practice Accreditation (CPPA) recently accredited Diplomat Pharmacy, Inc., the largest independent specialty pharmacy in the U.S. Diplomat provides patients with medicines for oncology, inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, hepatitis C, blood disorders, and other diseases. Based in Flint, Mich., the company also provides back-end patient support services for national retailers and major hospitals and specialty-care coverage to managed care organizations. Two Diplomat pharmacies in Michigan and Florida have also received dual CPPA accreditation for community and specialty pharmacy practice.
